About Mike
Mike has been poised with a camera over his shoulder the better part of some 40 plus years and never tires of the endless possibilities.
Over the years, he's won several awards including the coveted Grand Prize Winner in Outdoor Photographer's Outdoor Landscape Award Contest from among 10,000 entries. In addition, silver and bronze awards in the prestigious Epson's International Pano Award Contests to Editors' Choice in "The Open" international photo contest. Publications include Outdoor Photographer, Digital Photo, Digital Photo Pro, international calendars and on the Arizona Highways Instagram site.
Mike is also an advocate of the "Leave No Trace" movement which is actually quite easy: please have respect for the land, for wildlife and for others and any property they may own when you visit. He suggests this to you as he's had to remove extensive graffiti from rock formations on more than one image in Monument Valley in Photoshop. Right now, the Navajo Nation has closed access to the popular Grand Falls east of Flagstaff, AZ due to visitors overflowing trash and alcohol containers; ATV groups off-roading into residential areas and non-designated roads; deterioration of road maintenance; and disturbance of the natural ecosystem, its inhabitants and cultural sites.
